Finding Peace….Part 1

Peace as a believer is a strange thing.  While we should be the most peaceful people around as followers of the “Prince of Peace” we oftentimes take on so much stress and distraction that we can end up being anything but!  About 18 months ago I was asked to assess myself on a scale of 1-10 regarding how I fared in terms of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5 describes these).  What shocked me is how poorly I rated myself in the area of peace.

Since that time I have set about trying to reverse that reality in my life.  I have consistently asked God for peace and become aware of how often I try to make things happening rather than doing my best to God’s glory and trusting Him for the results.  I am also aware of how important it is that we have a right view of God.  If we think of God as a cosmic fuddy duddy or a grumpy old man trying to punish us every chance He gets, we entirely miss the message of the gospel.

Jesus purchased our sin and death so we could walk in an awareness of His provision!  He cleared the way for us to call God “daddy!”  When we think of the love and care that went into all of God’s decisions regarding us, we can see Him in an entirely different way and rest in his arms (see, the pictures above SORTA relate! ; ) ).  God wants to be your Daddy!  He has pursued you with all of the resources of heaven (AKA: Jesus) and you can trust that He is for you if you have yielded to His pursuit of you.

Why not rest in His arms like my kids are resting in Ceci’s arms above?

In the next blog on this subject, we will explore how to make decisions in light of what we have said here…
